Each is fashioned in the form of a small book, with a raised gilt portrait of Natsagdorj in his characteristic brimmed hat against a deep red enamel field and “D. Natsagdorj” across the lower edge. Although sharing the same basic concept, the four pieces differ noticeably in portrait engraving, facial treatment, hat form, lettering, enamel tone, border construction and reverse pin fittings, making the group especially useful for illustrating the evolution of the type. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eNatsagdorj's cultural importance was given particularly strong official recognition during this period.
