A rare original 2003 Russian MVD Moscow Region Criminal Investigation Department 85th Anniversary Badge, commemorating the professional lineage of Russia’s criminal-investigation service from 1918 to 2003. The modern anniversary tradition dates from 5 October 1918, when the Soviet NKVD formally organized criminal-investigation departments for covert investigation of serious criminal offenses and the fight against banditry, establishing the institutional foundation from which the later Soviet and Russian criminal-investigation service developed. This particular issue belongs specifically to the Moscow Region, rather than Moscow City, and was produced for the professional community of regional criminal-investigation officers and veterans whose work centered on the detection of serious crime, identification and apprehension of offenders, operational-search activity and the investigation of organized and violent criminality.

The 85th-anniversary issue represents the early post-Soviet generation of Russian departmental insignia, when many MVD branches retained Soviet-era professional traditions while adopting new regional and Russian state symbolism. Compared with ordinary police commemoratives, Moscow Region criminal-investigation anniversary badges form a much narrower collecting field, especially original heavy-metal examples from the Pobeda Moscow production tradition. With its specific regional attribution, 2003 jubilee, elaborate enamel construction and direct connection to the criminal-investigation service, this is a strong original piece for a specialized collection of Russian MVD, police, detective-service or law-enforcement insignia.

https://khanmilitaria.com/products/2003-russian-mvd-moscow-region-criminal-investigation-department-85th-anniversary-badge-pobeda-moscow-original-issue
