russian-svr-foreign-intelligence-for-labor-distinction-medal-with-award-document-rare-original-issue
Russian SVR Foreign Intelligence “For Labor Distinction” Medal with Award Document – Rare Original Issue

Original Item – Only One Available. Rare original medal of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation (SVR), officially titled “For Labor Distinction”. This decoration was created specifically to recognize selected members of the Service’s personnel for high standards of professional performance, conscientious fulfillment of their duties and sustained contribution to the work of the SVR. Award regulations required recipients to have accumulated at least 15 years of employment within the Service, making it a substantive long-service and merit distinction.

The medal is a silver-toned circular decoration with a radiating field on the obverse. At the upper center is the characteristic SVR emblem incorporating the star and blue-enamel globe, while the red-enamel inscription “For Labor Distinction” dominates the center. Laurel and oak elements complete the lower composition. The reverse bears a wreath surrounding the full institutional inscription “Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation.” The medal is suspended from its distinctive blue and muted crimson/purple ribbon, separated and edged by narrow yellow and red details characteristic of the official design.

Of particular collector interest, this example is accompanied by the corresponding SVR award certificate booklet showing the medal itself and identifying it specifically as the SVR medal “For Labor Distinction.” The recipient, award-order number and award date fields remain completely blank, so the certificate should correctly be described as a blank/unissued certificate rather than a named recipient document. The combination of an original SVR departmental medal with its correct blank certificate is considerably more desirable for a specialized intelligence collection than the medal alone. An uncommon and highly specialized piece representing the professional structure of Russia’s principal foreign-intelligence service and an excellent addition to an advanced collection of SVR, KGB-successor and Russian intelligence awards.

https://khanmilitaria.com/products/russian-svr-foreign-intelligence-for-labor-distinction-medal-with-award-document-rare-original-issue
