Description
This is an authentic Mongolian “Liberation War” 30th Anniversary Medal, issued in 1975 to commemorate thirty years since the joint Mongolian People’s Army and Soviet Red Army defeated Imperial Japan in the decisive Manchurian campaign of 1945, the final major battle of the Second World War that brought the war to its close.
The obverse shows a Mongolian soldier advancing with raised sword before a tank, supported by aircraft overhead, with the dual dates 1945–1975 and the Roman numeral XXX. The suspension features two red stars, the Soyombo of Mongolia and the hammer and sickle of the USSR, symbolizing the wartime alliance. The reverse inscription translates as “30th anniversary of the victory over Japanese Militarism”.
This example comes complete with its original ribbon, a rare survival that significantly enhances authenticity and collector value. Most surviving medals are found without their ribbon, making a full set like this particularly scarce.
A true Cold War era commemorative, this medal is an excellent addition for collectors of WWII victory awards, Mongolian–Soviet military history, and Liberation War memorabilia.
