Description
Original Item – Only One Available. A rare 1960s provincial badge of Övörkhangai Aimag, produced during the Mongolian People’s Republic period and belonging to the early generation of locally identified provincial insignia. Övörkhangai was established as an administrative province in 1931, with its center transferred to Arvaikheer in 1934, and by the 1960s had developed into one of central Mongolia’s most historically and geographically distinctive aimags. The province encompasses the upper Orkhon Valley and some of Mongolia’s most important cultural landscapes, while its economy and identity remained deeply connected with pastoralism and horse culture. Unlike later lightweight provincial souvenirs, this early badge belongs to the considerably better-made brass-and-enamel tradition of MPR insignia; surviving examples of this specific Övörkhangai design are documented within the 1960s period and are seldom encountered on the international market.
