A rare original 1966 Mongolian People’s Republic 1st Place award badge from the First Rural Youth Spartakiad, one of the major nationwide sporting programs organized during Mongolia’s socialist period. The 1966 competition was the first national Rural Youth Spartakiad, established as part of the MPR’s expanding system of mass physical culture and organized sport for young people outside the capital. Mongolian regional sports histories specifically record participation in the inaugural 1966 event, with provincial teams competing for national honors.

The large circular badge features a running athlete at center surrounded by a classical laurel wreath, with “1966” prominently placed at the base. The separate red-and-blue enameled suspension carries the Roman numeral “I,” identifying this example as a 1st Place award. The badge retains its original period pin fastening and displays the substantial metalwork and hand-finished enamel typical of higher-quality Mongolian sporting awards of the 1960s.
