1970s Mongolian People’s Republic “Excellent Police Officer” Badge Type 2 – Rare Original Issue

Original Item – Only One Available. A scarce Type 2 “Excellent Police Officer” badge of the Mongolian People’s Republic, dating from the 1970s and issued within the socialist-era police establishment. The Excellent Police Officer was awarded since 1950s to personnel selected for outstanding work, professional experience and exemplary service. Unlike general anniversary or participation badges, it represented recognized achievement within the country’s relatively small police organization.

The badge is an impressive multipiece construction built on a gilt shield covered in rich cobalt-blue enamel. At its center is the separately applied state emblem of the Mongolian People’s Republic, modelled in high relief and surrounded by gilt grain branches. The upper section carries the Mongolian flag of the period, while the small red-enamel panel below displays the raised initials “ОС” which means Excellent Police Officer. 

Condition is very good and entirely honest for an officially worn badge of this age. The original gilding remains strong, while the blue, red and white enamel shows expected surface marks, minor edge wear and age-related imperfections visible in the photographs. Earlier Type 2 police badges appear far less frequently than later Type 3, and this example would fill a difficult position in an advanced collection of Mongolian state awards, law-enforcement insignia or Cold War security-service memorabilia.
