1970s Mongolian People’s Republic “Veteran of the Revolutionary Struggle” Badge – Rare Official Issue

Original Item – Only One Available. A rare original 1970s Mongolian People’s Republic “Veteran of the Revolutionary Struggle” badge. This was not simply a general party-veteran badge, but an official distinction associated with a recognized MPR honorary status. The system was established in 1968, when the earlier Partisan Affairs Commission was reorganized into the Committee of Veterans of the Revolutionary Struggle. The title extended beyond surviving 1921 revolutionaries to include distinguished veterans of the 1939 and 1945 campaigns, as well as selected senior figures who had rendered important service in the military, state, public, economic and cultural life of the Mongolian People’s Republic. Only 943 people are recorded as having received the title, making insignia connected with it notably scarce.

The badge is formed as a flowing red banner, its raised gilt inscription reading “Veteran of the Revolutionary Struggle.” It is manufactured in brass with traditional red enamel and retains its original period pin fastening. 

This example shows noticeable age-related enamel loss and chipping, particularly across the red banner, together with normal surface wear to the gilt finish; the condition is clearly shown in the photographs. Despite the enamel damage, the badge remains a particularly desirable and historically important MPR distinction because of its restricted award base and association with Mongolia’s revolutionary, military and senior state-service generation.
