Original Item – Only One Available. A rare original 1971 60th Anniversary Badge of the Mongolian Legal Service, commemorating six decades of Mongolia’s modern state legal administration. The institutional lineage begins on 29 December 1911, when independent Bogd Khan Mongolia established its first five government ministries, including the Ministry for the Administration of Judicial Affairs, regarded as the origin of Mongolia’s modern legal service. The timing is particularly significant because from 1960 to 1971 central legal-administrative functions were carried by the Law Committee under the Council of Ministers, before the Ministry of Justice was re-established in 1972. This badge therefore marks not only sixty years from 1911, but also the close of an important organizational period in the MPR justice system.

The badge is a substantial suspended construction in brass with red and light-blue color. The upper suspension bears the full inscription “Legal Service” against a red field, leaving no ambiguity as to the institution commemorated. Suspended below is a radiating star centered by a blue shield bearing the Soyombo and the large red numeral “60.” The restrained shield-and-star composition emphasizes state authority. The reverse is plain and retains its original horizontal pin fastening, while the present example shows attractive natural age to the gilt surfaces.

For the specialist collector, this is a particularly interesting MPR departmental badge because its history reaches back beyond the 1921 People’s Revolution to the restoration of independent Mongolian state administration in 1911. Modern Mongolian government institutions continue to date the country’s Legal Service from the creation of the 1911 judicial ministry.
