Description

Original Item – Only One Available. This Mongolian State Security 50th Anniversary medal was issued in 1972 to commemorate fifty years since the founding of the state security service in 1922. Produced during the socialist era, it marks half a century of institutional development of Mongolia’s internal security and intelligence structures, closely aligned at the time with the broader Soviet security system.

The medal features a classic sword and star composition set against a radiating enamel center, symbolizing vigilance and protection of the state. The reverse remains completely untouched, confirming that this example was never awarded or mounted for wear. It retains its original suspension and comes preserved in its period presentation box, an increasingly scarce survival after more than five decades.

Finding this anniversary medal in true mint, unissued condition is exceptionally difficult today. Most surviving examples show clear signs of wear or were formally awarded to officers and personnel. A boxed, unused medal represents a rare opportunity for advanced collectors of Mongolian intelligence, socialist-era security services, or KGB-aligned institutional memorabilia. This is a museum-grade piece from the early Cold War period, preserved exactly as it left the issuing authority in 1972.
