An original late-socialist-era proficiency award of the Mongolian People's Republic fire service, the "Excellent Firefighter" badge in its Type 3 form, and a piece with a detail that sets it apart from most Mongolian badges of the period: the screwplate is struck Moscow Mint, marking this as Soviet contract production for Mongolia rather than domestic Ulaanbaatar manufacture. Fraternal mint work of this kind is a collecting story in itself, the small socialist states routinely ordered their finest award grades from Moscow and Leningrad, and mint-marked examples are the ones specialists compete for.

The design is classic MPR award architecture on a striking blue-enameled rhombus: golden sunrays burst from behind the silvered state emblem of the MPR, the horseman riding into the rising sun, set against a red enamel ring, with the green enamel scroll below lettered ОГС means "Excellent Firefighter," the fire service excellence designation. At the base, the giveaway of the badge's purpose: crossed firefighter's axe and a hammer in gilt relief. The multipiece construction, layered silver-on-gold-on-enamel, gives the badge real depth in hand. Condition is excellent, the blue, red, and green enamels are glossy, the silvered emblem shows attractive light toning, and the screwpost and marked plate are original and complete.
