Description
Original Item – Only One Available. A rare honorary distinction of the Mongolian People’s Republic’s socialist-era prison and correctional administration, awarded to an outstanding employee for exemplary professional service. In 1981, the organization was officially reorganized as the Administration of Correctional Labor Institutions, the period title under which it operated throughout most of the decade. The service formed part of Mongolia’s state military establishment during the socialist period, explaining the badge’s shield & sword shaped form and strongly official, uniformed-service appearance.
The badge is constructed with red, green, and white enamel, centered by Mongolia’s Soyombo emblem within a shield. The surrounding red scrolls bear inscriptions “Outstanding Employee” in traditional Mongolian script. The reverse is plain and retains its original threaded post and maker-marked screw plate, identifying Ulaanbaatar Mint production. Condition is good and entirely honest for a period-worn example, with surviving vivid enamel, softened gilding, surface wear, and visible enamel losses, all documented in the photographs. Original departmental badges from Mongolia’s correctional service appear considerably less often than comparable police and military awards, making this a specialized piece of socialist-era Mongolian law-enforcement history.
