Description
Original Item – Only One Available. A rare original 1980s Mongolian People’s Republic “People’s Volunteer Patrol Outstanding Member” badge, awarded to distinguished members, the organized civilian auxiliary force that worked alongside the Mongolian police in maintaining public order. Originating from earlier public-assistance brigades established in 1961, the organization was renamed to following in 1981 and its members participated in patrol duties, crime-prevention activities, traffic supervision and the protection of public places.
The upper suspension bears the organization name, while the red banner across the main badge reads “Outstanding Member.” The central design features the Mongolian Soyombo within a blue shield, surrounded by a substantial gilt border. The badge retains its original pin-back suspension.
This was an award-grade distinction rather than an ordinary membership badge, recognizing especially active or exemplary members of the public-order organization. Badges associated with the MPR’s civilian police auxiliaries are considerably less commonly encountered than standard labor and anniversary insignia, making this an attractive piece for collections of Mongolian police, internal-security and socialist-era public-order awards.
