This particular badge belongs to the Mongolian People’s Army contingent and was intended for officers involved in the 1983 Spartakiad rather than representing a competitive medal. The prominent red five-pointed star charged with the Soyombo identifies its military character immediately, placing the piece at the intersection of MPA institutional history and one of socialist Mongolia’s largest organized sporting events.
