Original Item – Only One Available. An original 1989 Honorary Badge, issued for the golden jubilee of the Mongolian-Soviet victory at Khalkhin Gol in 1939. The fiftieth anniversary was one of the largest Khalkhin Gol commemorations of the late Mongolian People’s Republic, honoring the Mongolian and Soviet servicemen whose victory had defended the MPR’s eastern frontier. Celebrated in 1989, during the final years of both the MPR and the Soviet-Mongolian military alliance, the jubilee stands at an especially important historical moment immediately before the political transformations of the early 1990s.

The badge is a substantial suspended construction in brass with deep red enamel. The upper rectangular suspension bears “Khalkhin Gol” above a laurel branch, while the lower element takes the form of a large radiating red five-pointed star. At its center are two interlocking circular emblems: the Mongolian Soyombo on the left and the Soviet hammer and sickle on the right, an unmistakable expression of the joint Mongolian-Soviet victory and military brotherhood commemorated by the anniversary. The large “50” beneath the emblems identifies the golden jubilee, while the plain reverse and original pin fastening retain the straightforward construction characteristic of late MPR commemorative insignia.
