2011 Mongolia Ömnögovi (South Gobi) Province 80th Anniversary Badge – Uncommon Original Issue

An uncommon commemorative badge issued for the 80th anniversary of Ömnögovi Province in 2011, marking eight decades since the province was established during Mongolia’s major administrative reorganization of 1931. The anniversary was officially celebrated in Ömnögovi on July 22–23, 2011, making this a specifically dated piece of modern Mongolian provincial history rather than a generic regional souvenir. Provincial jubilee insignia of this character were produced for anniversary celebrations and encountered considerably less often than ordinary nationally distributed Mongolian commemorative badges.

The badge is executed in a substantial suspended format with a multicolored “80” anniversary bar above an ornate rectangular medallion. At the center appears the emblem of Ömnögovi, featuring the characteristic camel and mountain landscape associated with Mongolia’s southern Gobi region, surrounded by traditional ornament and radiating blue-and-gold enamel work.
