Description
Original Item – Only One Available. An original 90th Anniversary Badge of the Mongolian Police, issued in 2011 to commemorate nine decades of the country's modern national law enforcement service. The institution traces its foundation to July 19, 1921, when Mongolia's revolutionary government formally established a police force responsible for maintaining public order, protecting citizens, and combating crime. Over the following ninety years, the organization developed from a small revolutionary-era security force into a nationwide institution encompassing criminal investigation, public security, and specialized police operations. This anniversary distinction was awarded to distinguished serving police officers in recognition of their professional achievements and dedicated service, as well as honored veterans whose careers contributed to the development of Mongolia's law enforcement system. The 2011 jubilee marked an important institutional milestone, honoring generations of personnel who served through the Mongolian People's Republic and the transition to the modern democratic state.
The badge is a substantial shield-shaped construction with contrasting silver and gold-toned metalwork, elaborate raised borders, and carefully executed lettering. Its central gilt medallion bears the Mongolian Police emblem, featuring the traditional falcon with outstretched wings, enclosed by circular border. The prominently displayed numeral "90" is finished in deep blue enamel against the polished silver-toned shield, while sweeping gilt elements frame the composition on either side. The raised banners carry the inscription "Mongolian State Police," with dark enamel accentuating the lettering. A small gilt Soyombo crowns the shield, completing the formal departmental design. The reverse features a smooth silver-toned surface with a central screwpost, retaining its original fastening nut. The badge is well preserved, with attractive contrasting finishes, clearly defined relief, and minor surface marks consistent with age and handling.
The 90th Anniversary Honor Badge occupies a distinctive position among Mongolia's modern police decorations. Compared with the earlier 80th-anniversary issue, this 2011 version is considerably less frequently encountered in collector circulation, making it a particularly desirable addition to a chronological collection of Mongolian police anniversary awards. Its significance extends beyond the commemorative date: it represents an institutional distinction associated with accomplished serving officers and respected veterans of one of Mongolia's oldest modern state organizations. An excellent example of original Mongolian law enforcement insignia, especially suited to collections of police decorations, internal security history, and post-socialist Mongolian awards.
