Original Item – Only One Available. A rare 2022 60th Anniversary badge of the Darkhan-Uul Provincial Police Department, marking six decades since the establishment of the first police unit in Darkhan in 1962. The institution was created during the formative years of Darkhan itself: following a Mongolian Council of Ministers resolution of 22 May 1962 and a Ministry of Public Security order of 31 May, a nine-man police unit was formally established in Darkhan on 1 June 1962. It expanded to departmental status the following year as the rapidly developing industrial city required a larger permanent law-enforcement presence. Through the political and administrative changes of the 1990s it was reorganized as the Darkhan City Police Department in 1992, and after Darkhan-Uul became an aimag, assumed its present provincial identity in 1994. The 1962–2022 jubilee therefore commemorated the institutional lineage of policing in Darkhan from its socialist-era beginnings through sixty years of continuous development into the modern Mongolian Police organization.
The badge is a substantial gilt shield-form piece built around the modern Mongolian Police emblem, rendered in white, blue and red enamel and set over a vertical sword motif. Black enamel above carries the anniversary dates “1962–2022,” while the red side panels read Darkhan Police; a gilt wreath complete the lower composition. The sharply defined relief, extensive multicolor enamel and large departmental format give it the character of a formal institutional jubilee badge rather than an ordinary civic commemorative. The reverse is finished in textured gilt and retains its original horizontal pin assembly. Provincial police anniversary insignia were produced for specific institutional jubilees and have a far narrower circulation than Mongolia’s national police commemoratives, making this 60th-anniversary issue particularly difficult to encounter and a strong addition to a specialized collection of Mongolian police, Ministry of Internal Affairs, or modern law-enforcement insignia.
