Original Item – Only One Available. A scarce unit-issued 100th Anniversary Honorary Medal of Mongolian Armed Forces Unit No. 123, the historic formation popularly known as the “Khovd Regiment.” The unit bears the name of renowned Mongolian commander People’s Khatanbaatar S. Magsarjav and holds the Order of the Red Banner of Military Valor. Its centenary was formally commemorated in August 2022, bringing together former commanders, retired veterans, officers and serving personnel associated with the formation. The regiment’s recorded service lineage includes the 1939 Battles of Khalkhin Gol, the 1945 Liberation War and the armed conflicts along Mongolia’s western frontier.

The medal is an imposing gilt starburst suspended from a red-and-blue ribbon mount fitted with a raised “100 Years” bar. Its circular center carries the unit emblem beneath the inscription “Khovd Regiment,” with the dates 1922–2022 and unit number 123 incorporated below. The design combines the mountain landscape and Soyombo emblem with the formation’s military symbols, enclosed by a gilt laurel border against blue and green enamel. Accompanying the medal is its original award certificate identifying the full official title of Unit No. 123. The recipient, order number and exact award date were never entered, but the booklet retains the unit stamp and command signature; it is therefore an authentic blank award certificate, not a named recipient grouping.

Condition is excellent overall, with bright original gilding, crisp relief and clean red, blue, green and white enamel. The ribbon, suspension ring, reverse pin and anniversary bar remain complete. These medals were prepared for the regiment’s internal centenary award program and were associated with serving personnel and veterans. Complete examples retaining the original stamped certificate appear considerably less often than medals encountered alone, making this a strong modern addition to a collection of Mongolian military units, western-frontier history or documented Armed Forces awards.
