Mongolian GIA General Intelligence Agency Presentation Table Medal with Original Case – Rare Official Issue

Original Item – Only One Available. A rare official presentation table medal of Mongolia’s General Intelligence Agency (GIA), preserved in its original fitted agency case. Mongolia’s modern intelligence organization traces its institutional history to the establishment of the Internal Protection Department in 1922, while the present General Intelligence Agency designation was formally adopted in 2000 when Parliament renamed the State Security Agency under Resolution No. 07. Today the GIA stands at the center of Mongolia’s intelligence system, with responsibilities encompassing foreign intelligence, counterintelligence and the protection of national security. 

The medal measures approximately 9 cm in height and is executed in a heavy silver-toned, antiqued finish that gives considerable depth to the relief. A powerful spread-winged eagle crowns the composition, descending over an eight-point directional star centered by the Soyombo, while the surrounding scroll carries General Intelligence Agency. The reverse is equally deliberate, with the agency name repeated around the perimeter in Mongolian and “GENERAL INTELLIGENCE AGENCY OF MONGOLIA” in English, surrounding a central field rendered in traditional Mongolian script. The piece is accompanied by its original dark presentation case, gold-stamped with the GIA eagle emblem and the agency title, and fitted internally with a rich golden lining. 

Unlike wearable service medals, class awards or anniversary badges, this is a large institutional presentation piece, designed to display the identity of the Agency itself. Complete cased presentation material from a national intelligence organization occupies a particularly specialized area of modern militaria, and the survival of the medal together with its correctly marked original case makes this an especially strong example for an advanced collection of Mongolian intelligence, state-security, secret-service or post-socialist security insignia.
