An exceptionally rare example of the Mongolian “Golden Star of Friendship,” formally described as the highest award for friendship and international cooperation of the Peace and Friendship Organization of Mongolia. The organization traces its institutional history to the Committee for Friendship and Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries, established in 1958, and has long served as a center of Mongolian public diplomacy and international cultural exchange. Although this is an organizational rather than a national state decoration, it occupied the highest level of the issuing body’s award system and was presented for major contributions to friendship, mutual understanding and cooperation between Mongolia and other nations. Documented recipients include ambassadors, honorary consuls and prominent figures in international relations.

The order is an imposing articulated construction measuring approximately 10 cm overall. Its upper circular suspension displays silver-toned Mongol Empire emblem against deep blue enamel, enclosed by a traditional hammer pattern border. Suspended below is a large gilt radiating star composed of layered feathered rays, dark green enamel points and pale-blue ornamental panels accented with clear decorative stones. At the center, a blue-and-white enameled globe-and-friendship emblem is surrounded by the inscription “Peace • Friendship.” The reverse retains the original dual fastening arrangement: two clutch posts on the upper medallion and a horizontal pin fitting across the main star.

Condition is very good overall, with brilliant original gilding, rich blue and green enamel and strong dimensional relief. Light surface marks, small enamel imperfections are visible under close inspection and have been photographed for complete accuracy. The documented level of its recipients and its status as the organization’s highest distinction make the Golden Star of Friendship substantially more significant than an ordinary commemorative order, a dramatic and seldom-encountered centerpiece for an advanced collection of Mongolian diplomacy, international-relations awards or modern Mongolian orders.
