Original Item – Only One Available. Exceptionally rare original Mongolian People’s Republic “1921 Partisan” honorary badge, issued in recognition of veterans officially acknowledged as participants in the armed revolutionary struggle of 1921. The distinction was not a general military or commemorative badge: the title “Partisan of the People’s Revolution” was granted to individuals whose participation in the revolutionary forces had been formally recognized by the Mongolian state. The institution of this veteran status dates to 1931, while a 1941 state resolution specifically provided for recognized partisans to receive the title, certificate and badge. Mongolian historical records identify approximately 960 citizens as ultimately having received the Partisan title, illustrating the highly restricted nature of the recognized group. 

The distinction commemorated those who had taken an active part in the 1921 Mongolian revolutionary struggle, particularly members of the People’s Provisional Army and associated revolutionary forces. These units fought during the campaign to restore Mongolian independence and establish the new revolutionary government, including operations against Chinese military forces and White Russian formations across Mongolia. Contemporary Mongolian historical sources specifically describe the Partisan designation as being connected with men who had personally participated in the revolutionary struggle and armed operations, rather than simply later supporters of the government.

This example is the highly desirable Variation 2, distinguished by its safety-pin attachment, enameled red revolutionary flag bearing the Mongolian Soyombo, white “1921” panel and deep blue PARTISAN inscription. Particularly important is the reverse, retaining its original horizontal pin attachment and individually stamped serial number. The low three-digit number considerably strengthens the historical character of the piece. Original “1921 Partisan” badges are seldom encountered on the international market, and numbered examples of this distinctive variation are particularly difficult to obtain. With its original enamel, period gilded finish, untouched age patina and complete fastening system, this is an outstanding piece for an advanced collection of Mongolian revolutionary history, MPR state distinctions and early socialist-era militaria.
