Description
Original Item – Only One Available. The “Selflessness Medal” was instituted in 1959 by decree of the State Great Khural of the Mongolian People’s Republic. Awarded primarily to firefighters, police officers, medical staff, and ordinary citizens who risked their lives in situations such as fires, floods, epidemics, and crime prevention, it quickly became one of the most respected civilian decorations of the socialist era.
This example is crafted in silver with fine red, green, and blue enamels, suspended from the distinctive triangular mount. The reverse bears an engraved serial number, reflecting its officially issued status.
Collectors value this award not only for its rarity but also for its symbolism, among the earliest recipients was a young schoolgirl who saved three children from a burning house, underscoring the medal’s association with genuine acts of sacrifice and courage. Today, surviving original issues from the Cold War period are increasingly scarce on the market, making this an exceptional acquisition for advanced collections of Mongolian or socialist decorations.
