An exceptionally rare original Russian FSB 16th Center mechanical presentation pocket watch, produced for personnel of one of the Federal Security Service’s most specialized technical-intelligence structures. The 16th Center is the Center for Radio-Electronic Intelligence on Communications, formed within the FSB in 2003 from the former Main Directorate for Radio-Electronic Intelligence of FAPSI, itself descended from the Soviet KGB’s 16th Directorate. Its core mission has involved the interception, decryption and processing of electronic communications, placing the center firmly within Russia’s signals-intelligence and communications-intelligence apparatus. Presentation pieces connected directly with this organization were intended for a very limited professional circle, including distinguished officers and personnel recognized for successful service, rather than for ordinary commercial distribution.

The watch is a substantial gold-tone mechanical pocket watch with a white dial, black numerals and a subsidiary seconds register at six o’clock.
