A very rare serial-numbered commemorative medal issued for the 25th anniversary of Group “Vympel,” one of the most renowned special-purpose formations associated with Soviet and Russian state security. Created for members and veterans of the Vympel community, this substantial award represents an important piece of modern Russian special-forces and intelligence-service history.

The medal features an elaborate multi-piece eight-pointed star with gilt radiating arms, a silver-colored laurel wreath, and a finely enamelled central medallion bearing the distinctive Vympel shield and sword emblem. The surrounding inscription reads “Group Vympel 25 Years.” The reverse is individually marked Serial No. 769, and the medal remains mounted on its original red, white, and blue suspension ribbon.
