Original Item – Only One Available. A rare original 2008 Russian FSB Transport Counterintelligence 90th Anniversary badge with matching lapel pin, commemorating ninety years of the state-security structures responsible for counterintelligence protection of Russia’s strategic transport system. The institutional lineage dates to 7 August 1918, when the Cheka established a specialized railway department to combat counterrevolution, sabotage and other threats across the railway network; it soon developed into the broader Transport Department and continued through successive Soviet state-security organizations. In the modern FSB this tradition is represented by the structure responsible for counterintelligence support of transport, commonly known as Directorate “T,” covering strategically important sectors including railways, aviation, airports, metropolitan systems and other transport infrastructure.
The principal badge is an imposing multi-piece sword-and-shield composition surrounded by a gilt laurel wreath. A deep translucent red enamel field carries the Russian double-headed eagle above the distinctive transport-counterintelligence emblem, combining an anchor, hammer and propeller motif to represent the maritime and aviation dimensions of the service’s responsibilities. The surrounding blue enamel band translates as “Transport Counterintelligence,” while the large “90” at the base identifies the jubilee. The accompanying miniature lapel badge repeats the same departmental symbolism in a compact shield format, creating a particularly desirable matched set. The full-size badge retains its original screwback fitting and substantial layered construction characteristic of Russian special-service anniversary insignia.
The 90th anniversary marked the continuation of a security tradition that had passed through the Cheka, OGPU, NKVD, MGB, KGB and ultimately the FSB, while retaining the specialized mission of protecting nationally important transportation networks from espionage, sabotage and other security threats. The combination of its 2008 jubilee attribution, specialized FSB counterintelligence association, elaborate multi-piece construction and matching lapel pin makes this a strong piece for an advanced collection of FSB, KGB-successor, Russian counterintelligence or transport-security insignia.
