Description
Original Item – Only One Available. Rare limited issue Russian commemorative badge dedicated to the 45th Anniversary of Operation “Storm-333,” one of the most historically significant and specialized subjects in Soviet KGB and special service collecting. The badge is marked “Storm-333, 45 years” with the dates, and features the names of the legendary “Grom” and “Zenit” detachments, both closely associated with the Soviet KGB special operation in Afghanistan. The design combines a shield and sword form, red star, Tajbeg Palace relief, crossed blades, laurel branches, and deep blue and red enamel.
Operation Storm-333 was not a general Afghanistan War episode, but the codename connected with the Soviet seizure of the Tajbeg Palace in Kabul and the removal of Afghan leader Hafizullah Amin in December 1979. For collectors, the references to KUOS, Grom, Zenit, and Storm-333 make this badge especially powerful: KUOS was the elite KGB special training structure, Zenit was formed from KGB officers trained through that system, and Grom was drawn from Alpha Group personnel for the Afghan mission.
This is a highly desirable modern commemorative issue for veterans who were involved in, with strong subject matter and impressive construction. The badge has multi-piece relief details, vivid enamel work, and a screwback reverse, giving it excellent display presence. A scarce and important piece for advanced collections of Soviet KGB, Russian special services, Spetsnaz, KUOS, Afghanistan War, Alpha Group, Zenit, Grom, and Storm-333 memorabilia. Original limited issue item, offered exactly as shown.
