Russian KUOS Vympel G.I. Boyarinov Commemorative Medal with Award Document – Rare Original Issue

Original Item – Only One Available. A rare commemorative medal dedicated to Grigory Ivanovich Boyarinov (1922–1979), Hero of the Soviet Union and one of the most important figures associated with the Soviet KGB’s KUOS special-training program and the Zenit, Kaskad and Vympel special-purpose units.

The medal was issued by the KUOS–Vympel Foundation for Assistance to Veterans of the State Security Services, named in honor of G.I. Boyarinov. The obverse features his portrait in uniform with the dates 1922–1979. The reverse bears the KUOS inscription together with the names Zenit, Kaskad and Vympel and the phrase:

“There are no bonds more sacred than comradeship.”

The medal is suspended from its original burgundy ribbon with narrow yellow stripes. It is accompanied by the matching foundation certificate booklet bearing the KUOS–Vympel emblem. The certificate remains blank with no recipient’s name, award number, date or signatures entered. An uncommon complete set connected with the history of Soviet and Russian state-security special forces, particularly desirable for collections devoted to the KGB, KUOS, Vympel, Zenit, Kaskad and Soviet special-operations memorabilia.
