Rare official-issue small badge commemorating the 75th Anniversary of the 1st Department of the Academy of Foreign Intelligence, the elite educational institution of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service. The badge features the classic Russian state-security shield-and-sword form, deep red enamel field, silver-tone laurel and SVR star with central blue globe emblem encircled by the motto “Fatherland, Valor, Honor.”
The lower blue enamel banner is marked “1st Department”, with the large “75” anniversary numerals at the base. In Russian institutional terminology, кафедра refers to an academic department, making this a specialized internal badge connected not simply to the SVR in general, but to a particular educational division within the Academy of Foreign Intelligence. Such academy and department-specific SVR badges are much less commonly encountered than broad anniversary or veterans’ pieces.
The reverse is fitted with a modern pin-and-clutch fastening, appropriate for a small formal-wear or presentation badge.
