A rare 60th Anniversary badge set of the External Counterintelligence branch of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), comprising the full-size insignia together with its matching miniature lapel badge. External Counterintelligence is a specialized operational direction within Russian foreign intelligence, responsible for countering hostile intelligence activity directed against Russian intelligence operations, protecting personnel and overseas structures, and preventing penetration of intelligence networks by opposing services. 

The large badge is an elaborate multi-piece construction dominated by the gilt SVR double-headed eagle, with the Service’s distinctive globe-and-star emblem at the center. Behind it is a sharply faceted silver-toned starburst, all enclosed within a gilt wreath. A separate shield-and-sword device at the base carries the red “60” anniversary numeral, while the dark blue enamel scroll reads “External Counterintelligence.” The companion lapel badge repeats the same principal heraldic composition in miniature, including the SVR eagle, central intelligence emblem, sword-and-shield device and anniversary numeral, creating a particularly desirable matched presentation rather than a single standalone badge.

Department-specific SVR insignia were produced for a much narrower institutional audience than general military commemoratives, and matched examples are correspondingly difficult to encounter.
