Original Item – Only One Available. A scarce departmental decoration of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service, the SVR, accompanied by its original blank award certificate with burgundy document cover. The Medal “For Cooperation” was instituted in November 2004 for individuals who rendered substantial assistance to the SVR in carrying out its assigned intelligence and national-security responsibilities. Unlike the service and long-service medals intended principally for personnel within the agency, this distinction represented the outward-facing side of the SVR award system, recognizing valuable cooperation with the Service and the institutions or individuals supporting its work.

The medal follows the formal emblematic language of modern Russian intelligence awards: a five-pointed order star assembled from offset silvered rays, centered by an enameled globe beneath the SVR motto “Fatherland, Valor, Honor.” The reverse is inscribed “For Cooperation” around the field and “SVR Russia” below, while the distinctive blue, yellow, white, and red ribbon identifies it immediately with the award system of the Foreign Intelligence Service. The original booklet repeats the medal’s title and ribbon design and remains entirely blank, with no recipient, award order, date, or serial entry; it should therefore be understood as an original unissued certificate rather than a named award document.

Complete SVR award sets with their correct period paperwork are considerably less often encountered than loose medals. This example retains the medal, suspension, ribbon, blank certificate together. Condition is as photographed, with attractive enamel and metal finishes, light age-related handling to the medal and cover, and some visible fraying and wear to the reverse of the ribbon mounting.
