A rarely encountered Vostok Komandirskie commemorative wristwatch associated with the violent Russian constitutional crisis of October 1993, commonly catalogued by collectors as the “October Putsch” model. The confrontation between President Boris Yeltsin and the Russian parliament culminated on 4 October, when army tanks fired on Moscow’s White House before troops stormed the building, one of the defining political events of post-Soviet Russia. An identical watch pattern is documented on the Russian collectors’ market under the title Vostok Komandirskie “Putsch October 1993,” confirming this as a recognized specialist commemorative variant rather than a standard military-themed dial.

The red dial with the Soviet hammer and sickle above and the inscription “October 1993” below. It retains gilt hands, luminous hour positions and a date aperture at three o’clock, all housed in the characteristic gilt-tone Komandirskie case with its original bezel and engraved water-resistant case back. The watch is currently fitted with a brown crocodile-pattern leather strap.

The watch winds and runs at the time of inspection. Its front shows substantial age and wear: there is visible loss and deterioration to the dial finish and hour markings, together with scratches, discoloration and wear to the crystal and gilt-tone case. These condition issues are clearly shown in the photographs and have not been concealed or restored. Long-term timekeeping accuracy, power reserve and water resistance have not been tested or guaranteed. Despite its worn appearance, the survival of this unusual historical dial makes it a difficult and highly evocative piece for a collection of Vostok watches, post-Soviet political memorabilia or modern Russian historical artifacts.
